After a strategic withdrawal from Moscow, Kutuzov exhausted the French army, leading to its collapse and the end of Napoleon's invasion of Russia.
A master of defensive tactics, Kutuzov's decisions saved Russia from occupation and changed the course of European history. He died in 1813, before witnessing Napoleon's ultimate defeat, but remains a lasting symbol of Russian military strength.
